First day of school

First day of school

Today was the first day of school for Andrew (5th grade), Jenna (3rd grade), and Matt (1st grade). They were so excited this morning, they were absolutely bouncing off the walls. Jenna got dressed up in the cutest outfit ever, with her High School Musical t-shirt and her cool studded cap. She is about 1000 times cooler in 3rd grade than I will ever be in my lifetime. The kids looked so grownup and big, I felt a little weepy about the time passing. The ironic thing about the first day of school is that, for the kids, it seems to be one of the best days ever. But for me, it is very bittersweet and I always feel sad to see them go. Just want to keep them safe in the nest I guess.

Poor Jamie had a rough morning. He does not start rpeschool until next week but he doesn’t quite understand that. He put a couple of snacks in his Spiderman lunchbox, packed up his backpack, and put it on. He was quite disappointed, to say the least, when I explained to him that he did not actually have school today. He so wants to be one of the big kids, the poor thing! My prediction is that I am going to be a hysterical mess when he starts school next week. Even though he is a big 3-year-old, he will always be the baby to me.
