Using a momAgenda® during the Parent/Teacher Conference

The following is a guest post from momAgendaCOMM blogger Kris Cain.

School is back in session. I think moms have mixed feeling about this, I know I do. I am happy to have a bit more peace and quiet in my house but I am not so thrilled about having to get up extra early to get the kiddos ready for school.

The mornings can be insane.

I cannot tell you how many times I might have to say, “Go and brush your teeth” in one morning. And that is just the beginning of the school hysteria.

As a mom, I am forever making plans, giving instructions, and keeping track of where we all need to be and when. The summer schedule was one thing, but back-to school means keeping track of so much more. You have to keep track of your child’s school schedule. You need to know who has gym on what days. You need to know the dates of school events and parent teacher conferences and there are always extracurricular activities. If you have more than one child keeping up with it all, it can become overwhelming.

I have 4 children. They wear uniforms to school. I admit that half the time I have to ask my kids each morning, “Who has gym today?” because I just cannot remember who gets the gym pants that day!

Another one of those important things to keep up with is the parent teacher conference.  You will probably be scheduled for two or three during the school year. Of course you want to put those dates on your momagenda. I always feel like I am in trouble for being called to the school, but luckily I have awesome kids so every meeting so far has been a joy.

During these conferences, teachers give us an idea of what our children have been learning in school, how they are progressing, and if they are meeting the school’s goals for their grade. You can use your momAgenda planner to help you stay on top of things during the conference. Before the conference, use the note sections of your planner to jot down questions that you have for the teacher. During the conference, you will want to make notes of important goals, relevant dates for activities and school functions, and other important info that the teacher may share with you. With your momAgenda in hand, you can record those future dates immediately.

By using your momAgenda planner, you can make sure everything stays at your fingertips so that you can refer back to it later for easy reference.

What are some of your tips for keeping up with a hectic school schedule?
