But I Don't Have Time for the Holidays...

At this time of year, it seems like everyone is saying the same thing... "I just don't have enough time to do all the things I need to do." I know that I personally utter this phrase at least 3 times per day. At this time of year, a momAgenda is just not enough. It would literally take a miracle to get me through the holidays without the stress, anxiety, and of course those extra 5 pounds that have become my constant December companions.

My strategy this year is to pay even closer attention to the big ideas that I have been trying to focus on all year:

• Prioritize. I have 2 priorities in my life: family, of course, comes first, work comes second. Everything else comes last. When I am being pulled in ten different directions, and there is no room in my day planner for another appointment, it is helpful to keep those priorities in mind.

• Let Go of Perfection. I have decided to forget about the elaborate Christmas parties my mother once hosted, with 18 different types of pie. (OK, I guess I did not totally forget about that.) But anyway, at this stage of life, all we can do is do our best. No one is going to award you a first-prize trophy for having the cleanest house, or the most delicious homemade holiday meal, or the best-dressed kids... you get the idea. Just do what you have time for, and then let it go.

Well I would like to write more but I don't really have time... hahaha. Have a good December everybody!
